It’s almost December. I really don’t share this with many people but I used to dread the holidays. Like, seriously dread it.

My past self would see the calendar turn to December and I could feel my stomach clenching, stress levels rising, and my self- esteem preparing itself for the impending shit kicking it was about to take. I found myself spending the holidays defending my life choices, pretending I didn’t hear a particular family member comment, yet again, on my weight (whether I had lost it or gained it, there is always a comment), or being grilled about if I am going to by a house yet…you get the idea.  By the way, if anyone comments on your weight during the holidays you have my blessing to give them a swift karate chop to the throat!

Then something changed in me last year. I realized I had become this sort of Grinch that was just not great to be around at this time. I was giving all my power away to circumstance! I don’t do this any other time of the year, why now? I realized I get to choose how and with whom I experience the holidays with!

I am sharing with you in today’s episode what I have learned about how to have a joyful holiday and keep the stress to a minimum! Especially, if you are someone who finds the holidays a particularly stressful time!

I even bought a tiny little Christmas tree for the first time in 6 years! Baby steps…
