I am elated to bring you the latest episode with this wonderful soul and actor, Alyshia Ochse! I discovered Alyshia as I was scrolling through Apple podcasts and I saw a podcast that jumped out at me called That One Audition, hosted and created by Alyshia. I immediately downloaded the first episode and was laughing out loud (for real). She is honest vulnerable and is able to poke fun at the occasional, and sometimes not so occasional absurdity, of the entertainment industry.

We hopped on a Skype call together and I felt very at ease in our conversation almost immediately. It’s so great to connect with people who are like-minded but also bring a unique perspective in how they see the world with their own experiences, triumphs, and challenges. Alyshia was most willing to share her journey and I couldn’t wait to bring her to you guys! Alyshia cracks her heart wide open share without any shame in this conversation and I know this will resonate with so many artists that are attempting to set themselves apart as an artist while doing their damnedest to remain authentic.

In This Episode:

  • What becoming a parent has taught her about herself in relationship to her creativity
  • What was the impetus for starting her podcast That One Audition
  • What her road was to finding representation when she moved to LA and what you need to know
  • Why she believes it is important to seek out a mentor when pursuing creative endeavors.
  • Why it is important to write and produce stories that explore the darker side of women.

Alyshia Ochse on Exploring The Darkness Within, Motherhood & That One Audition

A little About Alyshia:

Alyshia Ochse grew up in Northern Kentucky, where she spent her tomboy childhood playing sports and secretly writing poetry. As a true Scorpio, she enjoyed observing the spirited vulnerabilities and mysteries of human beings. A gifted soccer player, Alyshia competed at the state level starting at an early age collecting numerous championship titles with her traveling team. A bad knee injury in her senior year of high school abruptly ended her athletic career. With her athletic aspirations stripped and the tragic death of her best friend, her identity was in question. Until she found pen and paper.

She journaled every chance she had and started writing intense poetry that helped her understand the world around her and her place in it. Writing was a gateway for her —a way to stand out authentically. Her poetry won contests and was published in books. Written creative expression eventually led her to explore the big screen. It was through acting that she was able to tap deeply into her truth: her ability to embody and see herself in others.
